What’s Ahead at the 2025 Nonprofit Summit

The Nonprofit Summit is making its return for the third year. Presented by Heart of Indiana United Way, this year’s summit will continue to bring opportunities to strengthen the nonprofit sector in east central Indiana. You can purchase tickets for the 2025 Nonprofit Summit here.

What’s new for 2025

This year’s Summit, in its third year, introduces an exhibitor area to facilitate connections between nonprofits and relevant resources.

You’ll find experts in leadership development, IT support, banking and finance, emergency preparedness, coaching, and community services. Between sessions, stop by the exhibit area to find tools, get answers to your questions, and other resources to help your organization thrive.

What to look forward to

The 2025 Nonprofit Summit is packed with opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. From a powerful keynote address to a variety of breakout sessions and networking time, you’ll walk away with fresh ideas and practical tools to strengthen your organization.

Meet the Keynote Erin Slater

The Keynote Luncheon will feature Erin Slater.  Her innovative leadership earned national recognition, including being featured on The Martha Stewart Show and receiving the Indianapolis Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Award.

Erin Slater helps nonprofit and for-profit leaders cut through complexity to achieve transformational growth as the owner of Intentional Coaching + Consulting. Erin previously transformed a local nonprofit into a ten-state organization serving 3,500 children, doubling volunteers, staff, and revenue during her six years as CEO of College Mentors for Kids.

In her keynote, No Mud, No Mission: Leading with Courage, Clarity, and Compassion, Erin will

guide you through the transformative art of nonprofit leadership using the powerful metaphor of the lotus flower. Just as the lotus transforms muddy waters into pristine beauty, exceptional leaders transform their greatest challenges into mission-advancing opportunities.

Choose Your Breakout Adventure

You’ll get to choose from sessions on organizational management, professional development, and fundraising, all focused on practical tools and fresh ideas you can bring back to your team.

You’ll hear from:

  • John Coutinho, Andrew Payne, and Cory Kissick on preparedness and safety for nonprofits: situational awareness, emergency planning, handling disruptive incidents, and partnering with local agencies.

  • Cheryl Taylor and Anthony Juliano on aligning board members and key staff: clearer roles, stronger communication, and a culture of collaboration.

  • Kourtney McCauliff on leading with resilience: spotting burnout, building team resilience, and promoting wellbeing.

  • Chris Handberg on nonprofit management essentials: effective one-on-ones and meetings, feedback that works, job descriptions, performance documentation, and simple program budgets.

  • Jennifer Stanley on Enneagram 101: understanding your number and applying insights for leadership and team dynamics.

  • Brad Edmondson on fundraising that feels personal: building authentic donor relationships from first contact to transformational gifts.

  • Erin Slater will also lead a breakout on coaching as a catalyst for development, engagement, and retention.

  • Plus more!

With so many expert voices, you can tailor your summit day to what your organization needs most.

The Nonprofit Summit is your chance to spend the day learning, connecting, and celebrating with peers from across Muncie and Delaware County. We’ll gather at the Horizon Convention Center for a full day of inspiration, practical tools, and meaningful conversations.
