Nonprofit Essentials: Who Does What? Understanding Financial Roles in a Nonprofit

Financial stewardship is a shared responsibility. This session explores the distinct financial roles of the board, executive director, finance committee, treasurer, bookkeeper, accountant, auditor, and staff. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of responsibilities, oversight, internal controls, and how these roles work together to protect the organization’s mission and resources.

About Our Facilitator

Joe Eberhart joined the Accounting MSO team in 2026 as Fractional CFO.  He brings 25 years of accounting and finance experience with Ford Motor Company and Cummins Inc and a passion for business partnering, process improvements and problem solving. 

Joe is excited and proud to be part of the YMCA with its inclusionary mission and support for the communities.  Joe lives in Greenwood with his wife Mindi, three children and maybe too many dogs and cats.  In his free time he enjoys reading, hiking, and golf.
